4% of Americans Choose Long-term Cryptocurrency Investments

According to the latest SSRS study, 4% of Americans have chosen Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as the best investment option for the long term.

SSRS conducted a survey on behalf of Bankrate.com to determine the most popular long-term investments in America. Researchers asked respondents the question: “Which of the following options, in your opinion, would be the best way to invest money that you will not need in the next 10 years?”. Among the response options were real estate, stocks, cash, gold / metals, bonds, cryptocurrency, and none of the above.

As a result, 4% of respondents answered that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are the best investment option in the long term. For 31% of respondents, real estate has become the most preferred long-term investment of the proposed options.

1,015 respondents took part in the survey. The survey was conducted from June 25 to June 30, 2019. The SSRS study confirmed that cryptoactives are most popular among young people. According to the researchers:

“Millennials chose cryptocurrency as their main long-term investment in about 9% of cases — about three times more than generation X (people born from 1965 to 1979). Older respondents chose cryptocurrency as their main long-term investment even less often. ”

Although retail investors rarely consider bitcoin and other cryptoactive assets as a long-term investment, the situation in the market of institutional investors is different. Poll
Fidelity in May of this year showed that 22% of institutional investors added cryptoactives to their portfolio, and 40% of participants are open to investing in cryptoactives over the next five years.
