56% of the best universities in the world launched cryptocurrency courses

The American exchange Coinbase conducted a study among the top 50 universities in the world and it turned out that more than half of the higher education institutions launched cryptocurrency courses.

The report notes that if in 2018 only 42% of world universities offered courses in cryptocurrencies, now the number of such institutions has grown to 56%. That is, over the past year, another 7 higher education institutions have developed and launched relevant courses.

Together with the Qriously website, Coinbase analysts interviewed 735 students over the age of 16. According to the results of the survey, interest in blockchain and cryptocurrency courses among students increased by 6% compared to last year, and the number of students who attend cryptocurrency courses doubled – 18% of the respondents.

Researchers emphasized that cryptocurrency courses are often not related to computer courses. Almost 70% of such training programs belong to third-party departments – jurisprudence, economics, and so on.

At the same time, student clubs also attract interest in the industry – cryptocurrency and blockchain clubs exist in 41 of the 50 universities.

“This interest in studying cryptocurrencies at colleges and universities speaks of the future of money,” the researchers concluded.

Recently, Ken Weber, head of social performance at Ripple, expressed the view that the cryptocurrency industry desperately needs qualified professionals, so universities need to expand their training programs.
