7 Huawei smartphones received the Harmony OS 2.0 operating system to replace Android

Huawei continues to test the proprietary Harmony OS 2.0 operating system. The first version of the software has long been used in Huawei and Honor smart TVs. The second revision will appear on several dozen smartphones. Six models have already received the beta version of Harmony OS 2.0, but so far the update is only being sent out in China.

Back in December last year, a company from the Middle Kingdom released a closed beta version of the operating system for five smartphones and two MatePads. The list of smart phones includes Huawei P40, Huawei P40 Pro, Huawei Mate 30 Pro and Huawei Mate 30 4G / 5G.

Harmony OS 2.0 Public Beta is now available for each of the above models. In addition to these smartphones, the update has arrived on the Huawei P30 and Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G. All seven devices represent the flagship price segment. If desired, users will be able to quickly return to the Android 10 operating system with EMUI 11 firmware without losing data if the proprietary OS does not like it.

The company notes that Harmony OS 2.0 fully supports apps built for Android, i.e. everything that is in the AppGallery store will work without problems. At the same time, it is not indicated anywhere in the operating system settings that it is built on the basis of Android, as it was in EMUI 11.

In conclusion, let’s talk a little about the smartphones that have received the update. The Huawei P40 and P40 Pro are powered by the Kirin 990 5G 7nm mobile processor. The older model boasts a 90-hertz display, a 4200 mAh battery and a main camera with a resolution of 50 megapixels + 12 megapixels + 40 megapixels. The younger version has a 60-hertz panel and a camera with 50-megapixel, 16-megapixel and 8-megapixel modules, and the capacity of the bundled battery has been reduced to 3800 mAh.

Huawei Mate 30 5G and Mate 30 4G are equipped with a 6.62-inch screen. The heart of the flagships is the Kirin 990 5G single-chip system and the Kirin 990 4G, respectively. Each smartphone has a main camera with a resolution of 40 Mp + 16 Mp + 8 Mp and a battery of 4200 mAh.

The Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G and Mate 30 Pro 4G use the same processors as the standard editions of the family. At the same time, both Pro versions boast a display with curved edges, support for Face ID technology and a main camera with a resolution of 40 MP + 40 MP + 8 MP. A 4500 mAh battery is responsible for autonomy.

The Huawei P30 is the humblest and oldest of the models with Harmony OS 2.0 available. The smartphone was announced in early 2019. It is equipped with a 7-nanometer Kirin 980 processor, a 6.1-inch display, and the charging capacity of the bundled battery is 3650 mAh. Also in the flagship of the last generation there is a main camera with a resolution of 40 Mp + 16 Mp + 8 Mp and a 32-megapixel front camera.
