ADATA Premier Pro SP600, Kingmax SMP35 Client, Kingston SSDNow KC300, SanDisk X110 – Today will will take a look at the Specs, Hashrate, CPU performance and also a testing of this SSD Drive. We will go into more details as it regards to the testing in the article below.

It so happened that a very motley audience was selected for this material, not only belonging to different “weight” categories, but also based on different hardware stuffing: IMFT flash memory, SanDisk, Toshiba, Marvell controllers, LSI SandForce and JMicron.

So, before you another review of solid-state drives with a volume of 240-256 GB, which took place thanks to our partners – Regard and Kingston.

ADATA Premier Pro SP600 256 GB (ASP600S3-256GM-C)

The range of ADATA solid-state models in 2.5 “and SATA 6 Gb / s interface is divided into three segments, each of which until recently had two families of drives:” premium “- XPG SX910 and XPG SX900,” medium “- SP900 and SP600, “budget” – S511 and S510.

In early April, this balance of “two models in each segment” was broken by the release of Premier Pro SP920. And the company in the process of updating its lineup did not stop there: this review will be a kind of farewell for the ADATA Premier Pro SP600. More precisely, for the SP600 that we know: the JMicron JMF661 four-channel controller and MLC NAND process technology of the 24 nm class and higher.

The updated SP600 will continue to be based on the JMicron controller, but newer and more efficient – the JMF667H. ADATA has already sent us an updated modification with a capacity of 128 GB specially for review, which we will get acquainted with in one of the upcoming materials. The sample is no longer engineering, but completely retail in retail packaging and configuration. In the meantime, let’s see what the old JMF661 modification is capable of (now it was already).

The drive comes in a white box with a transparent window through which you can see the SSD itself.
450x344  19 KB. Big one: 1500x1145  123 KB

It comes with an instruction manual, a small booklet for a free program for data transfer (downloaded from the official ADATA website), a thickening frame for installing the drive in a seat designed for installing devices with a 9 mm case (SP600 case – 7 mm).

Also included is an adapter for mounting in a footprint, designed for a model in the 3.5 ”format (traditional HDD). And the adapter is now plastic, although not long ago it was made of an aluminum alloy.
450x357  21 KB. Big one: 1500x1191  166 KB

Quite familiar body made of aluminum alloy with anodized black milling finish.

An information sticker with the model name and serial number is glued to the bottom of the case.
450x416  24 KB. Big one: 1272x1175  131 KB

Traditionally, ADATA has an additional sticker with a serial key for Acronis True Image HD, which is designed to back up data, as well as transfer it from one device to another (for example, from HDD to SSD). In this case, the program itself must be downloaded from the official ADATA website.

You can also see a sticker with the serial number of the Acronis True Image HD program, which does not need any special presentation (backup, transfer, re-partitioning and other operations).

From a technical point of view, the drive is very similar to the previously reviewed SP600 128 GB: exactly the same shortened board, fixed with three screws, and eight NAND memory chips with an unknown marking.

Kingmax SMP35 Client 240 Гбайт (KM240GSMP35)

439x450  42 KB. Big one: 1500x1535  254 KB

The black and rather large box is due to the presence of two sets of mounting screws, a SATA cable, a Molex> SATA power adapter, an adapter for installing a drive into a standard footprint for 3.5 ”devices, and a small instruction set.
413x450  25 KB. Big one: 1378x1500  131 KB

All this is packed in a translucent plastic blister.

The Kingmax product itself is made in a classic aluminum alloy casing with a glossy black finish.

As a special decorative element – a holographic label that shimmers depending on the angle of incidence of light.
450x395  28 KB. Big one: 1500x1316  191 KB

A traditional sticker is glued to the bottom of the case, indicating the serial number (in this case, I removed it from the picture) and two identification codes in the European and American systems.

But in the Kingmax assortment there is also a cheaper option without any complete set (more precisely, there is only a warranty card and one set of mounting screws) – this is the SMP32 line. There are no hardware differences between SMP32 and SMP35, however, this applies to drives released approximately at the same time.

Kingmax SMP32 was already in our testing a little less than a year ago, becoming a participant in the review “78 cents per gigabyte and less: SSD 240-256 GB Kingmax, QUMO, SmartBuy and Verbatim.” Before us is the same LSI SandForce platform: an SF-2281 controller and eight IMFT MLC NAND memory chips, each of the memory chips contains four 64 Gbit synchronous memory chips. But the technical process by which the memory is made has changed, if the 25 nm process technology was previously used, now it is 20 nm.

The actual volume of the drive is 256 GB, part of which is reserved for the needs of the controller. In the classical sense (where one kilobyte is 1024 bytes, not 1000 bytes), 223.57 GB is available to the user.

The drive does not come with any proprietary software.

Kingston SSDNow KC300 240 Гбайт (SKC300S3B7A/240G)

The KC300 line of solid-state drives is offered to customers in two versions: a simple plastic blister, in which only the SSD itself is packed, and as an accompanying package there is a thickening frame, and an extended version of the “Upgrade Kit”. You can distinguish them by marking: SKC300S37A / *** G for the simple version and SKC300S3B7A / *** G for the extended one.

For study in the framework of this review, it was the extended configuration that was taken.
397x450  30 KB. Big one: 1323x1500  186 KB

The box (by the way, rather big – about 17.5 x 16 x 5 cm) is not filled with air, as is sometimes the case. The delivery set is really good: there is practically no free space left in the cardboard box inside the box.

  • Instruction and CD with software;
  • Adapter for installing an SSD into a slot for a standard 3.5 ”HDD and mounting screws;
  • Sealing frame for mounting the model in a housing designed for drives with a body thickness of 9 mm;
  • SATA cable with latches and power adapter from Molex to SATA-Power;
  • External plastic box with USB 2.0 interface, which allows installation of any SATA drive with a body thickness of 7 mm.

We examined a plastic box (or external case) with a USB interface literally in the previous article, while studying Kingston HyperX 3K 240 GB, at the same time the level of its performance became clear, so we will not dwell on it again.
