Snow-covered tracks cause delays in train traffic and, most importantly, pose a risk to travelers. However, an effective solution to this problem has emerged.
General Electric has developed a seemingly simple device called the Adavanced Rail Cleaner, which translates as “advanced track cleaner”. It is mounted on the front axle of the trainso that everything that a few moments later is right in front of the vehicle is within its reach. Module, if needed, shoots a stream of compressed air at a supersonic speed towards the obstruction. Dirt in the form of ice, moisture or branches is removed.

Thanks to the use of the aforementioned device, one of the European transport companies succeeded travel by a 2,700-ton train through the heavily forested Ardennes belt. It is a historic success because Until now, crossing extremely difficult terrain with such a huge train seemed impossible.
