AMD confirms that Zen 3 CPUs will only be compatible with X570 and B550

HD Tecnología

Bad news for owners of an AM4 motherboard with 300 or 400 Series chipset: AMD confirmed that The next Zen 3 processors will only be compatible with X570 and B550.

While these seem like bad news, we remind you that AMD also said that Zen 2-based Ryzen 3000s would not be compatible with the 300 series, but the manufacturers supported it anyway. This can give hope that they will at least incorporate support in the 400 series, although it will depend on each manufacturer and how strict AMD is with its rules.

Other important information revealed by AMD is that Ryzen 3000 APUs (3200G and 3400G) are not compatible with B550, nor will all Ryzen 2000 or Ryzen 1000 processors, so this chipset will only support Ryzen 3000 based on Zen 2 and future Zenzen based on Zen 3.

It will be interesting to see what manufacturers do, as this is the bare minimum that AMD requires, but manufacturers can extend compatibility if there are no technical issues preventing it. We will know this once the products arrive on the market.

What do you think about these AMD compatibility guidelines?
