AMD Fiji “Radeon R9 390X” shows signs of life – may make its debut in early 2015

Following Nvidia’s launch of performance-oriented Maxwell in the Geforce GTX 980 and 970, arch-rival AMD has a contract with lower prices and most recently with a new gaming package. Despite the fact that AMD is trying to get enthusiasts around the world to lighten the leather for Christmas shopping, many people choose to wait for the next generation of graphics cards.

It has been circulating for months about a Radeon 300 series and recurring is the code name Fiji, which is believed to be the graphics circuit that will replace today’s Hawaii in the highest performance class. Now the first concrete information is released that at least one new graphics card from AMD is in the works.

A printed circuit board with the name is now listed on the Indian export and import database Zauba C880 Fiji XT originating in Canada, where former ATI and current AMD have one of their larger offices. It is worth mentioning that it was on Zauba that the first signs of life for the Geforce GTX 980 and 970 were seen.

Apart from the fact that Fiji is more or less confirmed, the listing reveals nothing new about the graphics circuit, which provided that AMD adheres to the current name scheme can be expected to be included in the Radeon R9 390X (Fiji XT) and 390 (Fiji Pro). It is also possible that these models get closed water cooling, not unlike the Radeon R9 295X2.

While Fiji is believed to be the top performance segment, at least two more graphics chips are expected to make up the Radeon 300 series. The first is full-scale Tonga in the performance segment, which will be followed by more price-squeezed Iceland. The new series is said to make its debut in early 2015, but it is also possible that it will be later in the year.
