AMD Radeon “Fiji” is named Fury – costs over 10,000 kronor

There are only a few weeks left before AMD takes up the fight with Nvidia again and introduces a new generation of graphics cards in the Radeon family. At the forefront is the acclaimed graphics processor Fiji, which is not only the first with stacked memory chips but will also be marketed as a direct equivalent to the competitor’s cherished Geforce GTX Titan series.

For some time now, information from mainly Chinese forums has been circulating that the first model with the graphics processor Fiji is named Radeon Fury. Now SweClockers can confirm that the name appears in AMD’s internal documentation and that in some cases the graphics card is also called Fury XT. However, the XT extension can be an internal name for the model with the full version of the circuit.

At the same time, it appears that Fiji will at least initially only be used in a single model. This applies to the water-cooled graphics card that was shown by DICE manager Johan Andersson, among others. Data on scaled-down variants and tailor-made models from partner manufacturers shine with their absence.

Last but not least, it is clear that Radeon Fury will cost a fortune. At the time of writing, the list price corresponds to a little over SEK 10,000 including VAT, which is a clear indication that AMD is aiming for the Geforce GTX Titan X and not the significantly lower priced GTX 980 Ti.

As usual, however, the price information may well be adjusted before the official announcement, which takes place on 16 June.
