AMD to record the highest growth rate among chipmakers in 2021, at 65%

The year is not over yet, but it appears that AMD will top the annual revenue growth rate chart for 2021 with a 65% increase in profits. It seems that the red team has an impressive growth rate among chipmakers, despite the shortage due to the COVID pandemic.

First AMD, second MediaTek and third NVIDIA with growth rates of 60% and 54%, respectively. The last two years have been absolutely fabulous for CEO Lisa Su and the company, with record earnings.

It is worth noting that out of the top five semiconductor companies, only one manufactures chips, and the other four are non-factory companies, which mainly rely on TSMC for their chip supply. On the other hand, TSMC is expected to grow a moderate 24% in 2021, reaching 15th place. The highest-ranked chipmaker is China’s SMIC, with a growth rate of 39%, which ranks No. 5.

Many of the chipmakers are having a hard time, such as Intel, which is expected to show negative growth of -1% by 2021. The Santa Clara-based chipmaker ranks at the bottom of the table, only ahead of Sony which has a growth of -3%.

Samsung is not bad but it was not what was expected with an annual growth rate of 34%, much of the Korean chipmaker’s revenue comes from its memory and NAND business.
