A video card 17% more powerful than an RTX 2080 Ti. The flagship GPU of NVIDIA is a real monster of power, still undefeated over a year after its presentation, and a forbidden dream of many gamers. This year, however, things could change, on the one hand NVIDIA itself will launch the video cards of the Ampere range, which will bring an improvement in the production process, from 12 to 7 nm, and superior performance.
On the other hand also AMD is finally ready to return to the high end of the market with Navi and the RDNA 2 microarchitecture. Before seeing these video cards it will take several months, in the meantime online a benchmark on OpenVR drew the attention of fans, showing the most powerful Radeon ever.

As anticipated, there are still many months to go before the announcement of the new AMD video cards, which could make their official debut at the Computex in Taipei. As a rule, as a presentation approaches, the rumors become more and more accurate, but at this stage it is better to take the benchmark with a gripper as a Radeon GPU, capable of exceeding the performance of an RTX by 17% 2080 Ti. The benchmark in question is called OpenVR Benchmark and measures the power of a GPU with virtual reality, a field in which NVIDIA has always offered superior performance compared to AMD.
So seeing a mysterious AMD video card outclassing the spearhead of NVIDIA has a certain effect, but you have to keep your feet on the ground and make some considerations before shouting at the miracle.
First of all, there is no information on the test platform, it is also impossible to even imagine the type of video card used, given that the details on the hardware are missing. Ironically, we may be faced with a prototype of a video card with a double graphics chip, or more simply a two Radeons in Crossfire mode.
The wording "AMD Engineering Sample"leaves the field open to the most disparate theories, also because the OPN code associated with the CPU used for the benchmark corresponds to that of a Ryzen 7 4800H, one of the notebook processors recently announced at CES in Las Vegas and still not available for sale.
Lisa Su confirmed the arrival of a high-end Navi GPU in 2020 during the American fair, without giving technical details on the future video card. For now, we only know that it will be produced with a 7 nm + production process, which will use a renewed architecture compared to current models and which will integrate the hardware Ray Tracing support. Nothing more, to have some certainty you will have to wait a few more months.
