ASUS VG279QM, G-Sync monitor with 280 Hz and HDR400

ASUS VG279QM, G-Sync monitor with 280 Hz and HDR400

It seems incredible, since the IPS panels they were superior in all other technologies except in response times and refresh rates, but it seems that ASUS has left those premises behind seen what it offers on this new monitor. In addition, the specifications although they do not specify it as such, they do suggest that the monitor has ELMB-sync technology, which allows simultaneous use of VRR and blur reduction mode.

A monitor with 280 Hz? Technical specifications

That is what they say in the propaganda they are doing on the monitor, although it is really rare being an IPS panel. In any case, the panel of this monitor is resolution Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels), with 1 ms of GtG response time, real contrast ratio of 1000 to 1, maximum brightness of 400 cd / m2, 178 degree viewing angles both horizontally and vertically, 8 bits of color depth and a 99% color spectrum of the sRGB spectrum.

The 280 Hz refresh rate is quite likely to be achieved through panel overclock, which natively would be 240 Hz, a value that is already more normal even in IPS panels.

The monitor is not certified VESA DisplayHDR 400, so we cannot expect a significant HDR experience beyond that it has a brightness of 400 cd / m2. For its part, the ELMB (Extreme Low Motion Blur) mode allows the screen to offer the 1 ms MPRT specification. As we have mentioned before, it is likely that it will use ELMB-sync technology, which would allow simultaneous use of this technology with VRR, but it is not confirmed.

All this for a price of about 475 euros

The online store that we mentioned at the beginning that has leaked this monitor has it listed at a price of 3699 Yuan, which is equivalent to approximately 475 euros.

ASUS has not yet officially presented the VG279QM we are talking about today, and therefore there is no official price, although it is true that we can say without fear of being wrong that it will not cost 30 euros. It is quite possible that they have left a zero at the time of marking the price and that it costs 36,990 yen, which would be about 300 euros, a much more logical price for a monitor of these characteristics.
