If in a few months you see older PlayStation 5 sold at a higher price than those you will get in stores, remember this post. The new PlayStation 5 revision has already found its way to the market and we finally got to know what Sony has behind the skin, and it has a lot of harm, because it is a standard example of cutting production costs.
Sony has made the new PlayStation 5 revision less profitable than the old one. Maybe it’s high time to pour out non-standard PS5 coolers?
PlayStation 5 reportedly sold at a loss for Sony until August 4. From that moment on, the company finally started making money on the new console and apparently wants to squeeze even more out of it, because the new PlayStation 5 revision has clearly taken a step back. What about the user-friendly screw, or the lower weight, when “under the hood” Sony made savings that are difficult to explain?

The Austin Evans YouTube channel compared the two console revisions not only in terms of physics, but also performance. The 300-gram weight saving mentioned in the past is mainly due to the significantly simplified cooling system, because not only the heat sink, but also the fan itself has decreased.

You will probably think that Sony has improved the production process of its chip or reduced the heat it expels with some optimizations? Forget it. Measurements confirm that although the new PS5 revision is quieter, the air blown from the console is 3-5 degrees warmer, which clearly indicates that the SoC will warm up more. In turn, the higher the operating temperatures of the SoC, the lower the efficiency under load and, in fact, also the strength of silicon, which at higher temperatures undergoes accelerated degradation.
