The charitable division of the cryptocurrency exchange Binance has announced the launch of a special program, which collects cryptocurrencies to help the victims of Hurricane Dorian.
Donations can be made in bitcoins, own Binance Coin token and XRP tokens. After the campaign ends, the funds will be transferred to the Hurricane Relief project. At the time of publication, 17 donations were made in the amount of 0.5622 BTC, which at the current rate is about $ 5700.
Representatives of Binance Charity emphasized that all transactions are recorded on the blockchain, which means that they can be checked at any time.
According to reports of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent, after the passage of Hurricane Dorian more than 400 thousand people need food and other help. Over 13 thousand houses were destroyed. The Bahamas suffered the most from the hurricane.
“I think the number of victims will be staggering. I’ve never experienced this, and I don’t want to experience it again, ”said the Minister of Health of the Bahamas, Duane Sands.
