.Cardano (ADA) Entering Its Final Phase Before Significant Decentralization: See the Numbers
The update on March 31, 2021 will be too big for the decentralization of Cardano (ADA). From this date on, ADA stakers will be responsible for all blocks in the Cardano (ADA) main network.
D Day is Coming
The Cardano (ADA) blockchain is going through the final phase (“period”) where federation nodes assist syake pool operators in block generation. On March 31st, the d-parameter will be reduced to zero.
Charles Hoskinson, inventor of Cardano (ADA) and CEO of Input Output HK, posted on Twitter to highlight the importance of the upcoming transition once again.
Two days ago, on March 25, 2021, IOHK successfully submitted a proposal to apply the update to Cardano’s (ADA) code base. As a result, at the boundary of epoch 257, the d-parameter will finally be reduced to zero.
Since the introduction of ADA staking, the fixed-code mechanism has reduced this by two (0.02) percent per period. Thus, more and more computing power from the staking pool entered the network.
All Eyes on Cardano’s (ADA) Smart Contracts
Cardano (ADA) sets the parameter k, another measure of decentralization, as well as lowering the d parameter. It prevents large-scale pools from gaining control over block production.
This concept eliminates the risks of Cardano turning into a “whale-heavy” blockchain.
On March 26, 2021, Mr. Hoskinson also introduced the roadmap for the rollout of smart contracts in Cardano (ADA). Alonzo hard fork, which will enable smart contract functionality on Testnet, will be released next month.
