Chernyshenko announced an increase in the number of cyber attacks on the public sector

MOSCOW, 24 Oct – PRIME. This year, the number of cyber attacks on Russia has increased by 80%, and if last year the main target of cyber attacks was the financial sector, now it is the public sector, said Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.

“Of course, information security is at the forefront, because the number of cyber attacks on Russia has increased by 80% this year. Moreover, if last year the financial sector was the main target of cyber attacks, this year it is the public sector,” he noted during the working meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

At the same time, in 2022, more than 25 thousand cyber attacks on Russian state resources and 1,200 incidents on critical infrastructure were successfully eliminated, he added.

Chernyshenko also added that “this struggle will always continue – the cyber troops of all unfriendly countries are fighting against us.” According to him, it is important that, on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation, cyber-headquarters have been organized in all executive bodies, on all critical infrastructure. The Deputy Prime Minister noted that active defense continues.
