China has supplied Serbia with FK-3 anti-aircraft missiles

On the basis of an earlier agreement, China provided the Serbian army with military equipment, which (as the state spokesman himself emphasizes) will not be handed over to any of the parties to the ongoing conflict, because simply the delivery itself “has nothing to do with the present situation.” It’s all about FK-3 anti-aircraft missiles and a drone.

Under the contract signed in 2020, China was to provide Serbia with both FK-3 anti-aircraft missiles and the CH-92 drone. Although the details are not officially known, it is said that the delivery took place over the weekend and concerned the FK-3 medium-range self-propelled surface-to-air missile batteries. It will definitely not be kept a secret as the president of the country may and still remain silent on the subject, but he announced a public presentation of “the latest pride” of his country’s army this week.

However, we already know practically everything about the mentioned FK-3. The most important information boils down to the fact that it is an export version of the HQ-22 surface-to-air missile system, which has a maximum speed of Mach 6 and can hit targets 100 km away, not 170 km, as in the original. These missiles are guided by means of semi-active radar guidance with the possibility of additional guidance by commands. Apparently, they can hit ballistic and cruise missiles, airplanes, helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles.

A typical FK-3 system consists of a radar vehicle and three launch vehicles equipped with four missiles each. The battery can attack six air targets simultaneously.
