SONOS Arc – cinematic sound from the strip under the TV
At first glance, the SONOS Arc does not seem to be powerful. It looks inconspicuous. Simple and painfully elegant. This is due to the matt finish of the housing with a length of 114.2 cm and a relatively low weight of 6.25 kg. The soundbar can be placed under the TV or conveniently hung on the wall.
Inside there is room for eight elliptical woofers, three silk dome tweeters, four far-range microphones and eleven digital impulse amplifiers. Two of the speakers emit the sound upwards and two emit the sound to the sides.
Such a set, in combination with a specially profiled grille curved at an angle of 270 degrees, is able to generate a spatial sound in the 5.0 system, enriched with Dolby Atmos technology. This translates into a cinematic sound. Improved with functions such as Speech amplifier, so that we are able to hear every recorded whisper. This is due to the proper tuning of the equipment, made by the Sonos Sound Council. It includes people who have won Grammy and Oscars.
What else can SONOS Arc do? The available functions include Trueplay support (room acoustic analysis), night mode, Apple AirPlay 2 support, Wi-Fi, HDMI eARC, ethernet and synchronization with the TV remote control. The possibilities of SONOS Arc can be expanded by purchasing additional brand speakers – two for the rear channels (e.g. 2x Sonos One) and a subwoofer.
SONOS Beam Gen 2 – for those looking to save space
SONOS Beam Gen 2 is a soundbar for people who want to combine high quality sound with compact dimensions of the equipment. The matte housing of the device is 65.1mm long and weighs a modest 2.8 kg. It houses four elliptical midrange drivers, one central tweeter, three passive heat sinks responsible for low frequencies and five digital impulse amplifiers.
The soundbar is not only small, but also very easy to set up. We only need two cables – HDMI and a power cable, and the entire configuration can be carried out on a smartphone, which we pair with the soundbar via NFC. A few clicks on the smartphone screen and the device is ready to play music.
SONOS Beam Gen 2 supports a number of audio formats, including Dolby Atmos. We also have Trueplay, a speech amplifier, adjustable equalizer, night mode, Apple AirPlay 2 support, HDMI eARC, Wi-Fi and an Ethernet socket.
SONOS Roam – great sound anywhere
The SONOS Roam retains the most important features of a portable speaker. It is small – it is 16.8 cm high and 6 cm wide, lightweight – weighs 430 grams and is resistant. As confirmed by the IP67 waterproof standard. It is also able to work in temperatures from 5 to 35 degrees Celsius. Moreover, the loudspeaker is very nice and well-made.
Inside the SONOS Roam there are two H-class digital impulse amplifiers, a tweeter and a midrange speaker. Loudspeakers of this size typically only have a single driver. In addition, microphones that allow you to use the Trueplay function. It adjusts the sound of the speaker to the environmental conditions.
SONOS Roam allows you to use Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. Thanks to the Sound Swap function, the speaker is able to send sound to any other SONOS product within range.
The loudspeaker is powered by an 18 Whr battery that allows up to 10 hours of use at moderate volume. It can be charged with a power supply of at least 7.5W or, which is rare in portable speakers, wirelessly in the Qi standard. The set includes a charger with convenient magnets.
SONOS One SL – musical home furnishings
The SONOS One SL is a very universal loudspeaker. It can be a standalone device, or a very good addition to existing brand speakers. In turn, by washing two One SL speakers, we get a stereo set.
It is small, 16.2 cm high and 12 cm wide, but the weight of 1.85 kg indicates that we are dealing with well-equipped equipment. The SONOS One Sl is equipped with two digital impulse amplifiers, a tweeter and a midrange speaker. It offers Trueplay and Apple AirPlay 2 support, you can control it via the touch panel or from the mobile application and use wireless (Wi-Fi n) and wired (Ethernet) connectivity. There were also options for streaming music from popular applications such as Tidal or Spotify. In total, SONOS offers access to over 100 streaming services.
The SONOS One SL allows you to pair with other brand speakers. In this way, we can extend the surround sound, for example by connecting two One SL speakers to a soundbar, or play the same on all speakers. This function is especially useful during home events.
