What are Chromebooks?

ChromeOS is in fact updated by Google, each hardware platform is supported for six and a half years from launch.
On Chrome OS today there is no need to worry about viruses, or hitches.
The great success of Chromebooks is to be found in some peculiarities of these products:

For whom a Chromebook is recommended
To date, Chromebooks are devices that we feel we can recommend:
- to whom must buy a computer for study or for the DAD;
- for all those who use the PC preferably to surf, consult emails, use word processing programs, do office work and watch videos from streaming services;
- to those who they want to spend as little as possible and take home a still performing solution.

For those not recommended a Chromebook
We do not feel instead to recommend a Chromebook:
- to those who intend to use the PC for challenging tasks, such as 3D modeling and multimedia editing (especially videos);
- at the group of users who need specific programs writings for a specific platform (for example of a certain company program written for Windows);
- to those who want a portable to use for video games.
As for games, Chromebooks really only support Android ones. Fortunately, there is full support for new streaming game services such as Google Stadia and Xbox Game Pass.
How to choose a Chromebook?
Choosing a Chromebook is quite simple, just pay attention to a few details to find the model that best suits your needs.
In this article, globally we will only recommend low- and mid-range Chromebooks, because it is in this price range that Chrome OS gives its best.
On high-end laptops, which have more powerful hardware, Google’s system is unnecessarily limiting (better to opt for Windows or a Linux distribution). While, on low-end laptops, Chrome OS is undoubtedly a plus thanks to its light weight and performance.
Now we come to the features to pay attention to when choosing a Chromebook:
The size of the screen
It may seem trivial but the size of the screen impacts a lot on how you use a laptop (and by extension a Chromebook). A large screen laptop can be very pleasant to use for writing, or for enjoying multimedia content (such as videos, movies or TV series). On the other hand, a larger screen size leads to more important dimensions and weight of the device and therefore to a decrease in its portability.

Convertible or portable?
This is another important choice that can affect the price of the device. The difference between the two types of devices is that a convertible is equipped with a touch screen and a hinge that allows you to flip the screen to use the device as a tablet, while a laptop usually does not have a screen capable of reacting to touch and maintains a more canonical usage paradigm.
There are advantages to choosing a convertible, the touch display in fact goes particularly well with the numerous Android apps that can be easily downloaded from the Play Store. Better an ARM or x86 Chromebook?
The processor that moves the laptop is important, when choosing a Chromebook, many wonder which processor to bet on. It can be said that even in this case it depends on your needs.

How many GB of RAM?
This too is a question that consumers legitimately ask themselves in an increasingly crowded market.
Let’s start by reassuring you, Chromebook models with 4GB of RAM are fine too, they also allow you to keep a number of Chrome tabs open, which we do not hesitate to call surprising.
