Core i7-10700K Comet Lake-S, skyrocketing frequency! All the details

Intel returns to dominate the semiconductor market in 2019, to the detriment of Samsung

Intel Core 10th gen desktop processors – codename Comet Lake-S – should debut on the market in April, proposing what should finally be the last refresh of the Intel architecture at 14nm, now reached its limit. After the recent rumors about the top of the range 10-core Core i9-10900K, today we are dealing with the second top model of the Comet Lake-S line, the Core i7-10700K, heir to the current one Core i9-9700K unveiled in October 2018.

We know that the Core i7-10700K will offer 8 cores and 16 threads thanks to Hyper-Threading support, thus aligning itself to Core i9-9900K (Review) which previously represented the top model of the entire Core 9th gen range; as for frequencies, however, a recent tweet from the well-known leaker TUM_APISAK, confirms that this CPU will be very pushed, far exceeding the 5 GHz threshold.

A screenshot of the Futuremark SystemInfo attached to the tweet in question shows that the Core i7-10700K will have a boost frequency of up to 5.3 GHz, a feature that, after verification in the field, shows how much Intel has managed to squeeze the production node at 14nm (especially out of necessity). Also confirmed base frequency of 3.8 GHz, in line with what emerged in early January.

In summary, then, here are the probable specifications of the Core i7-10700K, a processor that promises excellent performance and most likely should be sold at a much more competitive price than the Core i9-9900K.
