Introduction

Hi all!

Corsair continues its momentum for new power supplies, after an SF600 80Plus Platinum (see our test here), a particularly good model in SFX format, the manufacturer is back with something bigger, the AX1000! On the program, high-end electronics, the highest 80 Plus certification (Titanium) as well as all the features of the models occupying the top of the basket for a price that however hurts, no less than 250 €. Let’s see if the AX1000 and its 1000 Watts live up to our expectations.

As we can see the Corsair AX1000 is clearly not there to make up the figure, at least with these technical characteristics. Indeed, we start on a single 12V rail capable of delivering 996 Watts, for 125 Watts on the 3.3 and 5 V combined, it would really be necessary to charge the mule to manage to consume as much, and this is not an equipped configuration. of a single GPU that will get there! The 80Plus Titanium certification is quite simply the best performance these days, with a minimum of 90% to 10% load. Corsair also gave a block to Cybenetics (see the report here), which offer competing certifications to the 80Plus, it has obtained the ETA A + (efficiency of 91 to 95% on average on 115V) and Lambda A (noise level of 20 at 25 dB), excellent results that promise good.
The block is cooled by a fan from Hong Hua, the HA13525M12F-Z, a 13.5 cm model rotating at a maximum speed of 1800 RPM and equipped with an FDB bearing. It’s also used in Seasonic Prime Titanium blocks (see here), and the resemblance to those won’t end there as you’ll see. Two ventilation modes are available, active of course but also hybrid. With the latter, the fan will only start up from 30 or 40% load, which is a good big configuration.
The dimensions are rather generous without being too important, with a length of 17 cm it will not fit in the smallest cases (like a Fractal Design Node 304 for example) but should not be a problem in a large majority of ATX models of the market. The Corsair AX100 is guaranteed for 10 years, so you will have peace of mind for a while.

Unpacking and bundle

Never change a winning team ! The box takes the colors of the brand, with a mixture of black and yellow rather nice, sober but not too much. On the front face a photo of the block is present, accompanied by the name of the model, power, certification and warranty. At the rear, a listing of the highlights is available (Hybrid ventilation mode, high efficiency, etc.) as well as the dimensions, technical characteristics and graphics of the efficiency / sound level.

When opening, we come across a vision that closely resembles the Seasonic power supply, apart from the magnets to be placed on the sides of the unit to adapt to the colors of the PC. The power supply itself is under two thick foam molds, so transportation shouldn’t be a problem.

The bundle is large enough for a power supply, with plastic and scratch cable ties, the necessary screws, a Corsair sticker and of course the power cord. The three magnets in the colors of our national flag are a plus that some buyers may like, but their usefulness has to be demonstrated!
