Croatian Post Office is Testing the Cryptocurrency Exchange

Croatian post office collaborates with Electrocoin for a pilot program for a cryptocurrency sale in the city of Zadar.

The pilot project will enable cryptocurrency owners to turn Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Stellar (XLM), XRP, and EOS into cash at the post offices.

For now, the service is currently available at three post offices in Zadar to assess the market interest for this service. If successful, Croatian Post is willing to expand its service to major Croatian cities and tourist centers.

Electrocoin, the partner of Post Office in this project, offers brokerage services for cryptocurrency for five years. According to the company’s website, Electrocoin services are available throughout the European Union.

Similar projects have been successful

In February, the Lichtenstein postal service offered a similar service in their physical locations. In July Liechtenstein’s regional director of Liechtenstein Gustav Gstoehl said the program was a success.

For this reason, the Liechtensteinische Post will further develop its services by increasing the daily exchange limit from 1,000 Swiss francs to 20,000 francs and expanding to more locations.

In July 2018, the Bitpanda Exchange concluded a partnership with Austrian mail to sell cryptocurrency. Users with platform accounts can buy Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, IOTA, Ripple, Dash, Komodo and Bitcoin Cash from over 400 postal branches across the country. The service is called Bitpanda To Go and has been extended to 1350 Austrian postal partners.
