Crucial unveils the new mid-range NVMe SSD, here is Crucial P2

Micron is preparing to update its offer of NVMe SSD low-end consumer and unveils the new Crucial P2, heir of the Crucial P1 presented in 2018 and equipped with QLC type NAND memories. The company has not made an official announcement at the moment, however the new line has appeared on the Spanish Crucial website, suggesting it has the same capacity / price ratio as the previous series.

Crucial P2 is an NVMe SSD with form-factor M2 and uses thePCIe 3.0 x4 interface; at the moment there are no details on the controller used as well as on the NAND QLC memories – (Quad-Level-Cell) – given the increase in performance offered, an update that concerns the memory chips is not to be excluded. Currently Crucial P2 is available in 250 and 500GB denominations, the models with higher capacity (1TB and 2TB) should arrive on the market later.

As for performance, the 250GB version offers a sequential data transfer rate of 2100-1150 MB / s, (respectively read-write); the 500GB model instead goes up to 2300 MB / s for reading and drops to 940 MB / s for writing sequential. For reference, the Crucial P1 500GB stands at 2100/950 MB / s respectively, all at a price of around 68 euros on the Italian market.
