Cryptocurrency Regulation Bill Stuck in The State Duma

Consideration of the draft law “On digital financial assets” is postponed until the autumn due to disagreements over the use of credit currencies.

According to Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Moiseev, the long-discussed draft law on regulation of digital assets will not be adopted during the spring session of the State Duma due to disagreements between legislators.

Apparently, the discussion of the bill “On digital financial assets” will be postponed until autumn. Moiseev noted that various departments could not reach a common opinion regarding the prohibition or legalization of cryptocurrency in Russia.

“The bill is stuck, it will not be passed to this session, apparently. I don’t know what will happen next with him, but so far this ideological dead end is hanging here and we don’t see a way to reach an agreement, ”said Moses.

At the same time, the Deputy Minister of Finance noted that the government came to an agreement on all the remaining items of the draft law, only the question regarding the use of digital money remained unresolved.

The statement by Alexei Moiseev confirms the comment of the head of the State Duma Committee on Financial Markets, Anatoly Aksakov, who last week noted that the adoption of the bill “On digital financial assets” could be postponed to the autumn session. Previously it was assumed that the bill will be adopted by the end of July.
