Pawel Sasko, the director related to the quests in Cyberpunk 2007, did a short interview in a stream, where he was asked why the game does not include police chases and all this is limited to the police teleporting behind the player randomly.

The answer was not liked very much, as it was ironic that not “all” open world games have a chase system, and cited some examples that annoyed the users who saw the stream even more: “I don’t think the open world game Sonic or Elden Ring has it“.

After that, he quickly got serious, saying that the real reason for the lack of car chase mechanics was the inability to make them work in the game before launch and that they finally gave up on having them, so it’s just one more test that the game still needed many more months of work before its launch, since even when they discovered that there were mechanics that did not work they simply chose to eliminate them from the game to try to meet the delivery deadlines that they imposed themselves and that they delayed several times promising that this time was necessary to offer a game up to expectations.
