DDR5-6000 RAMs outperform DDR4-3200 by just 2%, don't waste your money buying DDR5

It’s been just a month since the new processors that support DDR5 memory arrived, I’m talking about the 12th Gen INTEL Alder Lake-S CPUs. But the truth is that it is almost impossible for us to buy a DDR5 memory, at least until prices drop. As with GPUs, the next-generation memory standard is in very limited supply, and industry sources expect the situation to change by mid-2022.

Luckily 12th Gen CPUs support both DDR4 and DDR5 memory, and Raptor Lake is expected to follow the same trend.

And as it happened with the transition from DDR3 to DDR4 people want to know if the jump to DDR5 provides any performance advantage compared to higher-end DDR4-3200 / 3600 memory.

You’ll be glad to know that at least for gaming workloads Alder Lake works pretty much the same with DDR4 and DDR5 memory. The difference is practically nil but for 2 or 3 FPS DDR5 wins, it is 2.5% faster than standard DDR4-3200 memory kits.

Therefore, if you are planning to build a PC with Alder Lake processors, but you did not find or cannot pay the price of DDR5 modules in the market, you can not worry and install DDR4 memos and enjoy the new PC.
