A dozen or so days ago, we tested the Torrent casing from Fractal Design and although we had no problems with it, now the company announced to its customers a huge problem with the HUB attached to it. This can potentially cause a short circuit in your equipment.
An issue has been discovered that plagues the Torrent case from Fractal Design
The mentioned HUB is powered from the SATA connector and provides as many as nine 4-pin Nexus 9P Slim PWM fan connectors, which we then connect directly to the connector intended for the fan for the processor. It turned out that the company began to receive complaints that this element in the Torrent housing could lead to short circuits due to manufacturing defects.

Therefore, Fractal Design announced that after analysis, “Nexus 9P Slim Fan included with Torrent does not meet the standards expected by customers” due to problematic laminate. Currently, engineers are working to design and manufacture an updated version of the HUB, and until then the company recommends disconnecting this fan hub from the housing and reporting on the form available at this link.

This will give you a replacement hub when the company produces it “as soon as possible.” That’s why Fractal Design has stopped selling Torrent enclosures and is working with its partners to provide customers who don’t want to wait a fast refund process. However, it is worth remembering that simply without a hub, it is enough to connect the fans to the connectors on the board.
