Description

The Intel Management Engine is a driver that allows the firmware stored in the ROM of the Intel ME chip, which is part of the chipset, to communicate with the operating system through the Management Engine Interface. This interface allows programs to work with hardware power management technologies, monitoring the overall health of all components, controlling the speed of coolers, regulating and displaying the temperatures of various devices, as well as managing standby, hibernation and sleep modes.

In addition to the basic functionality, the following components can be built into the Intel ME chip, depending on the modification and type of motherboard:

• Advanced Management Technology – hardware technology for remote control of settings and computer security, which also allows you to remotely turn on and off the power and works regardless of the state of the OS;
• AntiTheft is a technology used in modern mobile platforms that makes it possible to remotely lock a computer, for example, in the event of theft;
• Remote PC Assist Technology is a system for remote computer control through the LogMeIn service. RPAT is now obsolete and no longer used;
• Small Business Advantage – a set of utilities to simplify routine tasks for ordinary users, such as backing up data, optimizing energy consumption, monitoring system status, and so on;
• Encryption Key Management is a technology for storing data encryption keys.

The easiest way to determine if you need this driver is to look in the device manager, if there is an Intel (R) Management Engine Interface device with an exclamation mark in the “System devices” list, then feel free to install this driver.

To install, download the archive corresponding to your operating system from the “Files” section and unpack it to any folder. Then find the Setup.exe file in this folder and run it.

Attention! This software only needs to be installed after installing the chipset driver.
