It has only been a few days since AMD launched new products on a broad front. With the Radeon RX 5700 family, the new architecture RDNA made its entrance, and after a price reduction at the last minute, the graphics cards managed to pinch an award in SweClocker’s test. Both the Radeon RX 5700 and 5700 XT get quite hot under load and a separate cooling solution may therefore be of interest.
EK Water Blocks takes this into account with the introduction of new water blocks for water cooling of the Radeon RX 5700 series. The blocks are part of the EK-Vector series and offer a classic design but with a modern cooling plate and controllable RGB lighting. The cooling plate covers the entire circuit board of the graphics card and thus cools both the graphics circuit, the GDDR6 memory and the VRM part.
model | Variant | Award |
---|---|---|
EK-Vector Radeon RX 5700 +XT | RGB – Nickel + Plexi | 129,90 EUR |
EK-Vector Radeon RX 5700 +XT | RGB – Nickel + Acetal | 124,90 EUR |
EK-Vector Radeon RX 5700 +XT | Cover plate – Black | 26,90 EUR |
EK-Vector Radeon RX 5700 +XT | Cover plate – Nickel | 33,90 EUR |
Furthermore, the water block should direct the liquid flow directly to the above-mentioned sections on the graphics card to maximize the cooling efficiency. EKWB’s water blocks use standard G 1/4-inch threads for hose and pipe connections. To be able to guarantee tight connections, EPDM O-rings are used.
EKWB offers several different variants of water blocks. The basic frame of the water blocks is offered in variants with copper or nickel-plated copper, and the upper layer can be based on either acrylic glass or acetal. The variants with acrylic glass get RGB lighting over the entire surface, while the black acetal variants are equipped with RGB lighting in a corner and at the terminal.
EKWB also includes an I / O bracket that only takes up one slot, unlike the standard variant which takes up two slots. This makes it easier for those who want to install several graphics cards in the same cooling solution, or simply have limited space.
The RGB lighting uses a 4-pin 12V connection and can be controlled via software from motherboard manufacturers such as Asus, Asrock, Gigabyte and MSI. According to the water blocks’ product side, the cooler solution will enable overclocking of the Radeon RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT, which can provide performance gains in a range of 10–20 percent.
The water blocks can be pre-ordered now and range in price levels from EUR 124.90, approximately SEK 1,320, to EUR 129.90, approximately SEK 1,380. The black cover plate costs EUR 26.90, approximately SEK 290, while the variant with plexiglass costs EUR 33.90, approximately SEK 360.
