introduction
The housings of USB sticks and external hard drives range from neon-colored rubber sleeves to designer goods made from high-quality materials. The data carriers of the “designed-by-brinell” product range from extrememory, which are manufactured by brinell in Germany, fall into the second category. For extrememory, the USB 3.0 products are offered with a new material and color combination. But can the performance of the hard drives and USB sticks keep up with the design?
extrememory Portable HDD designed by brinell 1 TB
The Portable HDD designed by brinell with a stainless steel frame and a brushed aluminum frame in black, aluminum, titanium or pink is suitable for larger amounts of data. The housing with a USB 3.0 port, including a 1 terabyte large 2.5-inch hard drive, weighs around 190 grams. However, a single hard disk supplier was not chosen for the hard disk with 8 MB cache and a spindle speed of 5,400 rpm, the Seagate Spinpoint M8 (ST1000LM024 / HN-M101MBB) is used as well as the Western Digital Scorpio Blue (WD10JPVT) ; the former was in our test pattern.
Ideally, the external drive should be able to achieve read and write rates of 100 megabytes per second if it is connected to a USB 3.0 port. The necessary connection cable, a protective bag for the 78 × 129 × 12 millimeter housing and a microfiber cleaning cloth are part of the scope of delivery. The manufacturer's guarantee is two years.
extrememory USB drive designed by brinell 32 GB
The USB stick with 8, 16 or 32 gigabytes of flash memory and USB 3.0 interface designed by brinell is significantly more compact, the design of which resembles that of the hard disk and is available in the same colors. The fastest variant with 32 GB storage space should reach up to 80 MB / s when reading and up to 40 MB / s when writing, the two variants with less storage space are correspondingly slower:
Like the hard drive, the USB stick comes with a protective cover and a microfiber cloth for cleaning. The manufacturer's guarantee for the 30-gram memory sticks is five years.
