Facebook completes the roll-out of Rooms: here's how to launch 50-member video calls

The 50-member videochat on Facebook are available to everyone globally. The company has announced it has Messenger Rooms rolled out on both mobile and desktop devices, with the service that offers a greater number of functions than the simple video call mode present on Messenger for some time. Restrictions are mainly expanded, with video calls possible up to one maximum of 50 people with no time limit through the Facebook app or through the dedicated Messenger app.

The function also allows you to set limits on who can enter the room with participants who do not necessarily have to be enrolled in the Zuckerberg service. All you need is the link that leads to the room, in fact, to be able to participate: "You can start and share rooms on Facebook through the news feed, groups and events, so easy to participate whenever you want", reads on the official blog. "You can choose who can join or remove people by blocking the room if you don't want someone else to join."

Rooms a new feature of Facebook Messenger, but for those who want to continue using the basic video call function, they can continue to do so as before. The novelty is the possibility of creating a room which can be accessed by all those who have permission. The management of the room granted on all devices is possible also accept all members of the friends list (although at least not recommended). By creating a room with a specific list of users, potential participants will receive a personal invitation to log in: in short, better pay attention to the selected settings and the sharing of links.

Facebook is promoting the new product in its main app with a carousel of tabs at the top of the news feed which lists the faces of various friends and the "Send a greeting" option. Touching any tab will create a room with that person or alternatively you can send a message on Messenger. The quality of the service seems solid at launch and there are some additional features such as AR filters and virtual backgrounds. End-to-end encryption is currently missing, however Facebook promises that it will not view or listen to calls. The company is also suggesting users to report rooms where illegal behavior occurs.
