Finland will develop wind energy on the border with Russia

HELSINKI, Sep 16 – PRIME. Three Finnish government ministries at once are involved in studying the development of wind energy in the border areas with Russia, follows from a joint press release from the Ministry of Economy and Employment, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of the Environment.

Turkey is negotiating with Russia on additional gas supplies
“The purpose of the study is to identify possible technical and operational solutions to remove obstacles and barriers to the construction of wind farms and regional control in eastern Finland in order to reform the energy policy of the whole country and improve regional equality,” the report says.
It is clarified that, based on the results of the study, proposals on the situation will be submitted to the participating ministries, which must be received by January 31, 2023.
In June, an unequal distribution of wind generation in Finland was reported. While there are about 10,000 wind turbines in the western parts of the country, there are only a few in the east, which borders Russia. The Finnish media specified that the country’s Ministry of Defense does not give permission for the construction of wind power, as it interferes with the operation of radars that control Finnish airspace from Russia.
