Geforce Gtx 1060 Mining - Hashrate Specs and Profitability (Ethereum)

GTX 1060 6Gb on stock settings and overclocking

In March, when Nvidia introduced the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, 2 updates were also announced – GeForce GTX 1060 with 9 Gbps and GeForce GTX 1080 with 11 Gbps of video memory. Two new cards with increased video memory attracted a lot of attention. GTX 1060 with 9 instead of 8 GHz GDDR5 attracted us too. More specifically, we are talking about the ASUS GeForce GTX 1060 OC 6GB 9Gbps, the performance of which we decided to test in mining.

The GTX 1060 6Gb has fairly high drain frequencies, but the fun begins after the video card is overclocked. Compared to the same GTX 1050 Ti, the GTX 1060 has tremendous overclocking potential. In our test bench, we use the Gigabyte Geforce GTX 6 Gb VK on a 2-core processor and mining software: Claymore AMD + NVIDIA GPU Miner v9.6, EWBF’s CUDA Zcash miner and Nvidia Optimized Ethminer and NiceHash.

Heshreit with the extraction of Ethereum at stock frequencies amounted to 19 MHS / sec with a power consumption of 100W and a video card temperature of 68 degrees Celsius.

The memory of the video card was overclocked to 4700 Mhz (+925 Mhz) – such overclocking can be achieved only with the help of the MSI Afterburner utility or the like, which increased the hashrate when mining Ethereum to 23.7-25 MHS / sec. At the same time, the power consumption at work increased to 120W.

All this makes the Geforce GTX 1060 card one of the most profitable mining cards, given the current price, the complexity of Ethereum mining and the cost of electricity $ 0.1 per kW / h. At this stage, it is worth mentioning that the GTX 1060 cooling system does an excellent job of keeping the GPU temperature at 56-60 degrees Celsius at 65% of the rotational speed of the fans. The video card could be further accelerated, which led to an increase in the hashrate, but it made the mining process unstable.
