The new process technology has brought the possibility of a significant increase in GPU clock speeds. In GPU Boost mode, the GPU can reach a frequency of 1.8 GHz. Together with the new type of video memory GDDR5X, improved texture compression algorithm, this allows GeForce 10-series graphics cards to reach a whole new level of performance. The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 model not only outperforms its predecessor GeForce GTX 980 (almost 70%), but also the recent flagship GeForce GTX TITAN X.
