GeForce GTX 1650 3 gb: Overview| Specification | Testing – Is it Good for Gaming? – Video card of the initial gaming segment GeForce GTX 1650 was announced at the end of April 2019. The serial number in the name makes it clear that the new model is considered as the successor to the GeForce GTX 1050. Therefore, this video card is the most budget gaming option with corresponding performance. The entire series of GeForce GTX 16 adapters is positioned as a simplified alternative to the more “advanced” GeForce RTX 20 series. Unlike the older line, the 16 series video cards lack special cores for hardware ray tracing.

The basis of the video accelerator is a graphics core marked TU117, made according to 12-nm standards. This GPU received 896 CUDA cores, 56 TMUs, and 32 ROPs. The clock speeds of the TU117 GPU are 1485-1665 MHz. The video memory card received the GDDR5 standard, 4 GB, connected via a 128-bit bus. The power consumption of the GeForce GTX 1650 is 75W and the recommended power supply is 300W. Let’s consider the characteristics in more detail.

GeForce GTX 1650: Specification

The video card does not need additional power, but some manufacturers may well add the appropriate connector. GeForce GTX 1650 has support for NVIDIA Highlights, Ansel, G-SYNC, Vulkan API, OpenGL 4.6, and Microsoft DirectX 12 API. VR Ready feature is not supported.

Testing the GeForce GTX 1650 in games

Game tests were performed using the model Palit GeForce GTX 1650 StormX, which has standard clock frequencies of 1485-1665 MHz. Video cards were used for comparison GeForce GTX 1050 Ti And GeForce GTX 1060 (3GB) from the same manufacturer and also with standard frequencies without overclocking.

Test bench configuration:

  • Intel Core i7-6850K processor;
  • motherboard MSI X99S MPower;
  • memory G.Skill F4-3200C14Q-32GTZ (32 GB);
  • SSD Plextor PX-256M6Pro (256 MB);
  • Corsair AX1500i power supply (1500 W);
  • operating system Windows 10 Pro x64;
  • GeForce 430.39 WHQL driver.

In each game, the maximum graphics settings with Full HD resolution were set. The results are represented by the average number of received FPSquestion_mark.

Based on the results of gaming tests, we see that the new video card confidently outperforms not only its predecessor GeForce GTX 1050, but also its “big sister” GTX 1050 Ti. With medium and sometimes high graphics settings with FullHD resolution (1920×1080 px), you can play quite comfortably even in the most demanding projects. In principle, with reasonable overclocking, the new model is quite capable of competing with the three-gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060. And in those game projects where 3 GB of video memory is already not enough, it can even outperform it. A similar example can be seen in Assassin’s Creed Origins and Odyssey. In general, for a 128-bit video card, the performance indicator is very, very worthy.

In conclusion, it remains to be noted that at the start of sales, NVIDIA set the recommended price for the GeForce GTX 1650 at $149 or 11,990 rubles. At the same time, some partner models that have appeared on the shelves of Russian stores please with a more democratic price tag.
