Geforce GTX Titan Z against an uncertain future

At the end of March, Nvidia’s CEO Jen-Hsun Huang inaugurated the GPU Technology Conference with an unusual graphics card. The promise is that the Geforce GTX Titan Z will provide unsurpassed performance so far, but the model is delayed and there is no talk of a new launch date yet.

The original plan was for the Geforce GTX Titan Z to be released on April 29. Just days before the intended launch, however, it was clear that the graphics card was delayed. The reason for this is not clear, but there are many indications that Nvidia was forced to return to the drawing board after the launch of the Radeon R9 295X2.

Nvidia now tells SweClockers that there is no word on the future of the Geforce GTX Titan Z. This suggests that a possible launch may be delayed, or that Nvidia has decided to put the model on the shelf and refrain from releasing the graphics card on the market. .

The Geforce GTX Titan Z contains two GK110s with a total of 12 GB of GDDR5 memory, but unlike the closest competitor Radeon R9 295X5, traditional air cooling is used. It limits the possibilities of raising the clock frequencies and probably means that the current configuration is not enough to sail up as the world’s fastest graphics card.

At the same time, the Geforce GTX Titan Z will cost almost 3,000 dollars, twice as much as the Radeon R9 295X2.
