GeForce RTX 3050 Ti (mobile) coming soon: Asus confirms it by mistake

It seems that Asus, among the many variations of the new TUF Dash F15 arriving on the market, has a version equipped with an unprecedented one GeForce RTX 3050 Ti. The name of this Nvidia GPU was briefly indicated in the technical specifications, now removed (but immortalized by a Twitter leaker), of the notebook on the Taiwanese company’s website.

According to what reported by the site, the GPU would be accompanied by 4GB of GDDR6 memory, which suggests a 128-bit bus. At the moment the technical specifications of the graphics chip are not known, which could be a further castrated GA106 (GPU on board the RTX 3060 mobile), or an unpublished GA107. There are also rumors of a TGP of 60W, like the less powerful declinations of the RTX 3060, but the existence of more incarnations as for the other solutions cannot be excluded.

In the internet “chatter” there are those who bet on a mobile GeForce RTX 3050 Ti with a GA106 featuring 3584 CUDA cores (like the RTX 3060 12GB desktop), while the GA107 would be destined for its younger sister RTX 3050 with 2304 CUDA cores, always on 128-bit buses connected to 4GB of GDDR6 memory.

While waiting for more information, it looks like Nvidia’s RTX range will expand further than ever before, bringing hardware support for ray tracing in lower price ranges: with the RTX 2000 family Nvidia did not go below the GeForce RTX 2060, instead creating the GTX 1600 series without an RT core and Tensor core unit.

The Ampere architecture guarantees Nvidia greater performance and this allows it to further expand the territory of ray tracing, even if for a GPU like this, DLSS will be fundamental. To evaluate the 4 GB of memory, a quantity that appears increasingly limiting in the future. At the moment, the new range of Nvidia mobile GPUs consists of three models: RTX 3080, RTX 3070 and RTX 3060.
