Graphics card prices are rising in China, and this trend will be reflected globally

After months in which the prices of graphics cards approached the manufacturer’s suggested retail price, they once again began to increase in China and this trend is also present in other countries.

According to MyDrivers (via TechPowerUp), increases within China are due to reduction in GPU shipments. The problem is particularly serious in the case of the Nvidia RTX 3060, whose supply has fallen by 50% and is not expected to improve in the coming weeks.

MyDrivers compares the prices of brands like Asus, MSI and Gigabyte. In some cases the increases are not significant: in the case of the Gigabyte 1050Ti the increase is only $ 12. On the contrary, other cases are more extreme: The Asus 3070Ti apparently went up $ 92, marking a 15% increase over its suggested price of $ 599., even if it is not at that price anywhere. Also, MyDrivers shows us that Nvidia has suffered from this problem more than AMD.

Added to this is the regular 3DCenter report. The German site examines the average sale prices of Ampere / RDNA 2 cards at retailers in the country. The report shows that Nvidia and AMD products had risen in price throughout August. 3DCenter also notes that availability is also getting worse.

Interestingly, it seems that people are still buying Ampere cards, as Steam’s latest hardware survey shows that use of the RTX 3000 series increased during August.

Have you already noticed the increase in the prices of graphics cards in Argentina?
