Have you bought the ROG Maximus Z690 HERO? Then beware of failure

If the initial assumptions and speculations turn out to be true, ASUS will have a big problem in its complaints department. More and more owners of ROG Maximus Z690 HERO report both cases of burnout and inability to boot the system.

ASUS may have botched the ROG Maximus Z690 HERO motherboards. These crash, the chances of occurrence of which are eliminated by the new BIOS

At the time of writing, there are six cases, but the ROG Maximus Z690 HERO boards affected by the same problem must be much more. Not only because not all of them report problems of this type online, but also because some of the customers advertising their discs received other copies with the same defect.

Everything apparently boils down to the DDR5 slots, or more precisely, the “4C10B MOSFET” integrated circuits that support them. Unfortunately, ASUS still does not have an appropriate list of DDR5 compatible with this model (QLV), but no motherboard, especially such an expensive one, should fail in this way. It is certain that the problem is related to the hardware related to the operating memory, which is confirmed by the error 53 QCODE (incompatible memory error), the orange QLED diode and even chip burns visible to the naked eye.

At the moment, it is not clear what exactly causes the crashes, but it is certain that if you own the ROG Maximus Z690 HERO, you should take care of updating the BIOS. We are still waiting for a proper explanation by ASUS.
