“High-performance Navi-based graphics cards to be launched in the future”

In early 2019, AMD launched the first consumer-oriented graphics card manufactured at 7 nanometers, in the form of Radeon VII. Recently, the company continued on the beaten track through a double launch of the Ryzen 3000 series and the Radeon RX 5700 family, both of which have new architectures and shrinking manufacturing technology.

Earlier this week, AMD presented the 2019 second quarter report and in connection with this, listeners could ask questions. The company’s CEO answered one of these questions and confirmed that both mobile processors and more powerful Navi graphics cards manufactured on 7 nanometers will be launched.

Q: Can you give us a sense on 7 nm high-end Navi and mobile 7nm CPUs?

A: You asked a good product question. I would say they are coming. You should expect that our execution on those are on track and we have a rich 7 nm portfolio beyond the products that we have already announced in the upcoming quarters.

Su does not mention exact products or times for when the requested products are ready, but she emphasizes that the company is brooding on a wide range of products beyond what has already been launched. Common to these is thus manufacturing on TSMC’s 7-nanometer technology and that no delays around the launches are to be expected.

Recently, Sapphire registered a series of product names with the Eurasian Economic Union (EaEU), all of which follow the same naming scheme as the Radeon RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT. However, there are many indications that the company’s move is a safeguard for what is to come, but names such as Radeon RX 5800 and RX 5900 suggest that more powerful cards may come.

In addition, graphics circuits are glimpsed in various databases, which are believed to be more competent variants according to the Navi architecture. Whether this is true is difficult to say, but if so, Radeon cards in the top tier can become a reality. At present, the company’s Radeon VII is still AMD’s most powerful graphics card, but information suggests that the product sings the last verse.
