How to calibrate the monitor in Windows 10 without software

Before you start touching the monitor parameters with the Windows 10 calibration tool, it is advisable to restore the monitor to factory settings (if it is not a new monitor you just bought, of course).

How to access the calibration tool

From the desktop, right-click on any empty space and click on "Display Settings".

In the window that opens we must go down completely and select the option «Advanced screen settings».

Another window opens. In it, click on «Show properties of the display adapter». Depending on your version of Windows, you may have the option of accessing the color calibration options directly from here.

In the window that opens, go to the "Color management" tab and click on the only button you will find.

After doing this, we have already opened the "Color Management" tool that will allow us to perform the basic calibration that we have talked about before.

How to calibrate the monitor

The first thing to do is, in the first tab, select the device (in this case the monitor, obviously).

If we go to the second tab, "All profiles", we can add and remove profiles (which we can download from the Internet, such as from the manufacturer's page, although if you do a profile search according to your monitor's model it is likely that you will find several already calibrated profiles, which is an advantage).

And if we go to the third tab, Advanced Options, we will find what we are looking for. Here we can assign certain profiles (the ones we have in the previous tab) to different areas, something that is very useful, but what we are looking for here is the option of «Calibrate screen«.

Clicking on the button will open a kind of assistant (because it goes in several steps by clicking Next) that will occupy the entire screen. We have made it small to be able to take the screenshots, but ideally, it occupies the entire screen so that we can calibrate the monitor properly.

The first thing we are going to be able to adjust is the Gamma, and we just have to follow the instructions on the screen. The biggest difference between this calibration tool and the others is that Here we can modify the levels directly in Windows, without having to touch the monitor settings manually.

The same goes for brightness, contrast and color adjustment. In all cases the system gives us instructions to follow and, with some sliders that we can move with the mouse, we simply adjust it to the values we consider optimal.

Also, do not be afraid to adjust these values and then do not like the result, because at the end it will allow us to confirm the changes made or return to the previous calibration.

You see that with the internal Windows 10 tool to calibrate the monitor, everything is very simple and we can do it with a few simple mouse clicks.
