Comment on the specification of the tested graphics card
The GeForce RTX 3070 Ti , as well as the RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3070, is powered by the GA104 silicon core. Its production rests on the shoulders of Samsung, which uses an 8 nm technological process for this purpose, thanks to which 17.4 billion transistors cover an area of ~ 393 mm 2.
Physically the GA104 consists of 48 SM blocks and the peer-reviewed GPU is the only one with such a configuration, of course in the context of consumer desktop systems. Ergo, compared to RTX 3070, we have two SM more (4.3% increase), which translates into an increase in the number of execution units as in the table above. In addition, the GDDR6 bones were replaced with GDDR6X, which increased the theoretical VRAM throughput by almost 36%, i.e. very clearly.
At the same time, in this case, the greens did not follow the same path as with the RTX 3060 and did not increase the memory capacity, which we still have 8 GB – 2 GB less than for the RTX 3080. The whole is completed by the power limit in the reference variant to 290 W (for RTX 3070 this parameter is 220 W), which was additionally made by GIGABYTEincreased by another 20 W. The factory OC did not miss the Boost clock, which exceeds NVIDIA’s guidelines by 60 MHz.
