How to install LosslessCut on Linux
Do you need a good Linux video editor that can handle lossless footage? Take a look at Lossless Cut. It is a lightweight non-linear editor for Linux and can take your footage without quality loss. Here’s how to install it on Linux.
AppImage installation instructions
A great way to install the Lossless Cut video editor on Linux is with the AppImage version. The AppImage version of Lossless Cut works on 100% Linux distributions and, best of all, you don’t need to deal with dependencies.
In order for the latest version of Lossless Cut to work on your Linux PC, you will need a tool called AppImageLauncher. It automatically manages your AppImages and integrates them into the Linux system, so you don’t have to.
Installing the AppImageLaunch application is relatively easy. To get it working, start by opening a terminal window on the Linux desktop. You can open a terminal window on the Linux desktop by pressing Ctrl + Alt + T on the keyboard. Or search for “Terminal” in the application menu.
With the terminal window open, install the program on your computer that matches the operating system you are currently using.

With the AppImage Launcher application set up on your computer, you can begin the Lossless Cut installation. Using the wget , download the latest image from the Lossless Cut application to your computer.

When the download command completes, open the Linux File Manager and select the “Downloads” folder. Then right-click on the “LosslessCut-linux.AppImage” file and select “Open with AppImageLauncher”.
When launching the Lossless Cut AppImage file with the AppImageLauncher, a pop-up window will appear. This pop-up window will inform you that Lossless Cut has not yet been integrated into the system. Select the “Integrate and run” button to install Lossless Cut on your Linux computer.
When the installation is complete, Lossless Cut will appear in your application menu.
Snap Package Installation Instructions
The Lossless Cut application is available to users on the Ubuntu Snap Store. To set it up, start by installing the Snap package runtime on your computer. The Snap package runtime is required to install Snaps.
Note: If you use Ubuntu, you don’t need to configure the Snap runtime as it is set up on your computer right away.
Setting the Snap package runtime is easy. To do this, start a terminal window by pressing Ctrl + Alt + TOr search for “Terminal” in the application menu and launch it. Install the “snapd” package when the terminal is open and enable the “snapd.socket” service.

Flatpak Installation Instructions
The Lossless Cut app is on the Flathub app store as Flatpak. If you want to install the software on your computer, start by enabling the Flatpak runtime on your computer.
To configure the Flatpak runtime on Linux, install the “flatpak” package on your computer. If you’re having trouble setting up the Flatpak runtime on your computer, follow our setup guide on the subject.
After setting up the Flatpak runtime on your computer, it’s time to set up the Flathub app store. This app store will allow you to install Lossless Cut. To enable the Flathub repository, enter the Add remote command.

With the Flathub repository added to Flatpak, you can begin the Lossless Cut installation. Using the flatpak installation command, configure the application.
flatpak install flathub no.mifi.losslesscut
Arch Linux Installation Instructions
If you are using Arch Linux, you will be able to install Lossless Cut through the Arch Linux User Repository. To install the application from AUR, you will need to install the Trizen AUR helper application.
Trizen is also in AUR, but it is quite easy to install as there are no sub-packages to configure. To configure it, enter the following commands in your terminal window.
sudo pacman -S git base-devel git clone https://aur.archlinux.org/trizen.git cd trizen/ makepkg -sri
With the Trizen AUR wizard configured, you will be able to install the Lossless Cut application using the trizen -S command.
trizen -S losslesscut-bin
Fedora / OpenSUSE
Both Fedora and OpenSUSE Linux do not have RPM package files available to install Lossless Cut. If you are using these operating systems and want to install the app, follow the instructions in Flatpak, Snap, or AppImage to get it working on your Linux PC.
