How to play Fable Anniversary on Linux – Easy Steps

Fable Anniversary is a remastering of Fable: The Lost Chapters from Lion Head Studios and Microsoft Game Studios. The remake launched on Steam in 2014 and there are no plans for a Linux release. However, with a few tweaks, you can get the game to work on Linux.

How to make Fable Anniversary work on Linux

Fable Anniversary is a Microsoft Windows game. However, it works quite well on Linux, thanks to Proton and Steam Play. So, if you want to play this game on your system, you have to install the Linux version of Steam.

Instalar Steam

Installing the Linux version of Steam is relatively easy and, best of all, it is compatible with almost all Linux operating systems. In order for the application to work, you must open a terminal window on the Linux desktop.

Opening a terminal window on the Linux desktop is easy. To do so, press Ctrl + Alt + T on the keyboard. Or search for “Terminal” in the application menu and run it that way. Then follow the Steam installation instructions that correspond to the Linux operating system you are using.

Ubuntu

On Ubuntu, the Steam application can be installed through the fit to install command.

sudo apt install steam

Debian

Those looking to get Steam to work on Debian will need to download the latest Steam DEB package from Valve. To get your hands on the latest Steam DEB package file, use the following wget download command below.

wget https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/client/installer/steam.deb

After downloading the Steam DEB package to your computer, you can begin the installation. Using the dpkg command, install Steam on Debian.

sudo dpkg -i steam.deb

Once the Steam DEB package is configured on your computer, you will need to correct any dependency issues that may have occurred during the installation process. To do that, use the apt-get install -f command.

sudo apt-get install -f

Arch Linux

Steam is available to all Arch Linux users through the “multilib” software repository. That being said, this software repository is not always enabled by default. To enable it, start the /etc/pacman.conf file in your favorite text editor (as root).

Once the file is open in the text editor, search for “multilib” and remove the # symbol in front of it. Then remove the # symbol from the lines directly below. Finally, save your edits.

After saving the edits to the archive, resynchronize your Arch Linux system with the official Arch servers using the pacman -Cause command.

sudo pacman -Syy

With the multilib software repository configured, install the latest version of Steam on Arch Linux using the pacman -S command.

sudo pacman -S steam

Fedora / OpenSUSE

On both Fedora Linux and OpenSUSE Linux, users can install Steam through software repositories included within the operating system. However, these Steam versions tend to perform worse than Steam’s Flatpak version, so we suggest following those instructions.

Flatpak

After configuring the Flatpak runtime, Steam can be installed. Using the two commands below, get Steam working.

flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo

flatpak install flathub com.valvesoftware.Steam

Install Fable Anniversary on Linux

With the Steam app installed, open it. Then follow the step-by-step instructions below to get Fable Anniversary working on your Linux system.

Paso 1: Open the “Steam” menu and select the “Settings” button inside. After selecting this button, you will be able to access the Steam settings area. Within the Steam settings area, look for the “Steam Play” section. Then check the “Enable Steam Play for supported titles” box and the “Enable Steam Play for all other titles” box.

Paso 2: Inside Steam, find the “Shop” button and click on it with your mouse. Then click on the search box and type “Fable Anniversary.” press the Get into on the keyboard to view the search results.

Look through the search results for “Fable Anniversary” and click on it with your mouse. Selecting Fable Anniversary will take you to their game page.

Paso 3: On the Fable Anniversary store page, locate the green “Add to Cart” button and click on it with your mouse. Once you have selected this button, you can go through the game purchase process.

Paso 4: Once you have purchased Fable Anniversary, find the “Library” button and click on it to access your library of Steam games. Then locate “Fable Anniversary” and select it.
