Halo Wars: Definitive Edition is a Microsoft Windows game, but you can play it on Linux thanks to Proton and Steam Play. In order for this game to work, you will need to configure the Linux version of Steam.
Steam works on a wide variety of Linux operating systems. In order for the application to work on your Linux system, open a terminal window on the desktop. You can open a terminal window by pressing Ctrl + Alt + T on the keyboard. Or search for “Terminal” in the application menu.
With the terminal window open, you can begin the installation. By following the installation instructions below, get the latest version of Steam up and running on your computer.
Steam works quite well on Ubuntu. To make it work on your system, enter the fit to install command below.
sudo apt install steam
Steam works on Debian, but you must install it by downloading the official Valve package. To get your hands on this pack, use the following wget download command.
After downloading the latest version of Steam on your computer, you can begin the installation. Using the dpkg installation command, configure Steam on Debian.
sudo dpkg -i steam.deb
After the Steam application is installed, you should correct any dependency issues during the installation process. To fix these system problems, enter the following apt-get install -f command.
Steam is available to Arch Linux users. However, it is provided through the “multilib” software repository. To enable this repository, open the /etc/pacman.conf file in your favorite text editor (as root).
Once the text file is open, look for the line “multilib”. Then remove the # symbol. Make sure to also remove the # from the lines directly below it. Then save your edits. Finally, resynchronize Arch Linux with the official servers using pacman -Cause.
sudo pacman -Syy
After syncing Arch, you can begin the Steam installation. Use the pacman -S command below to install Steam on your computer.
sudo pacman -S steam
Fedora / OpenSUSE
Fedora and OpenSUSE Linux users can install Steam with software repositories included with the operating system. That being said, this version of Steam doesn’t perform as well as the Flatpak version of Steam, so we suggest installing that version instead.
flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo
flatpak install flathub com.valvesoftware.Steam
