How to play Risk of Rain 2 on Linux – Easy Steps

Risk of Rain 2 is an action game similar to rouge. In it, the player fights against hordes of monsters, either in cooperative mode with friends or alone. The game was developed by Hopoo Games and published by Gearbox. Here’s how to play it on Linux.

How to make Risk of Rain 2 work on Linux

The first Risk of Rain game was native to the Linux platform. Sadly, the sequel, Risk of Rain 2, is not. That said, the game still runs fine on Linux, thanks to the Proton compatibility tool included on Steam.

Instalar Steam

To use Proton, you will need to install the Steam application on your computer. Steam works on a wide variety of Linux operating systems. To install the application on your computer, open a terminal window on the Linux desktop.

With the terminal window open, you can begin the installation. By following the instructions below, set up the latest version of Steam on your Linux computer.

Ubuntu

To get Steam to work on your Ubuntu system, use the following fit to install command below.

sudo apt install steam

Debian

If you need Steam to work on your Debian system, you will have to download the official Steam DEB package on your computer. Using the wget download command, grab the latest version from Steam.

wget https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/client/installer/steam.deb

After getting the latest DEB package, you can begin the installation. Using the dpkg command then set the latest version on your computer.

sudo dpkg -i steam.deb

With the Steam application configured on your computer, you will need to correct any dependency issues that may have arisen during the installation process using the apt-get install -f command.

sudo apt-get install -f

Arch Linux

In order for Steam to work on Arch Linux, you will need to enable the “multilib” software repository on your computer. To enable this software repository, open the /etc/pacman.conf file (as root). Next, look for the # symbol and remove it from the “multilib” line, as well as the lines directly below it.

After editing the file, save it. Then re-sync your Arch Linux system with the official repositories using the following pacman command below.

sudo pacman -Syy

Finally, install the latest version of Steam on your computer using the pacman command.

sudo pacman -S steam

Fedora / OpenSUSE

Those who use Fedora or OpenSUSE will be able to install the Steam application using the software repositories included with the operating system. That being said, Flatpak’s instructions work much better, so we suggest following those instructions instead.

Flatpak

To use the FLatpak version of Steam on your Linux system, you must first configure the Flatpak runtime. You can configure the Flatpak runtime by following our guide on the subject.

With the runtime configured, you can begin the Steam installation. Using the following commands, configure Steam.

flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo

flatpak install flathub com.valvesoftware.Steam

Instalar Risk of Rain 2 Linux

Once you’ve set up Steam on your computer, open it up and log into your account. Then follow the step-by-step instructions below to get Risk of Rain 2 working on Linux.

Paso 1: Look for the “Steam” button within Steam and select the “Settings” button within the menu. By clicking on the “Settings” button, you will access the Steam settings area.

Look inside the Steam settings area and click on the “Steam Play” button. Then check the “Enable Steam Play for supported titles” box and the “Enable Steam Play for all other titles” box. Click on the “OK” button to save your settings.

Paso 2: Find the “Shop” button within Steam and click on it with your mouse. Then select the “Search” box and enter “Rain Hazard 2”. press the Get into to view the search results.
