How to set a Slack status – Easy Steps

How to set a Slack status

Instant messaging apps like Slack give everyone in a workspace a quick and easy way to communicate with others. Unlike email, it is assumed that there will be no delay in getting a response since the other person is online. This is rarely the case. Messages may go unread or unanswered if the recipient is busy.

Establish a slack state

You can set your Slack status to busy and you can snooze your notifications if you’re away, but Slack has better information-rich options that you can use to set as your status. For example, if you are in a meeting, you can set the status to speak and set the status to expire automatically.

Messaging apps help reduce the number of emails you receive, but you will always find that some people expect an immediate response. It can be inferred that being “online” is ready to respond to ten different people at once. Unfortunately, you cannot configure the notification settings per user or per channel. If you find a particular channel, group or user that tends to be too active during a time when you are working, you can mute them. However, you will have to remember to reactivate them because there is no scheduling function for this.
