HP unveils several Geforce RTX 3000 Ti models

During the autumn of 2020, Nvidia gradually launched news in the graphics card series Geforce RTX 3000. Launching began with RTX 3080 and RTX 3070 followed by the flagship RTX 3090, but the news had not reached the market before rumors of upgraded models began to circulate. One of these is the Geforce RTX 3080 Ti, which reportedly doubles the base model’s 10 GB of GDDR6X memory.

The fact that the name lands in the Geforce RTX 3080 Ti is now further proven in the form of drivers from the partner manufacturer HP. The user StefanG3D shares the finding in the Laptopvideo2go forum, via Videocardz. Data from the drivers shows that Nvidia’s current name on the top card is the Geforce RTX 3080 Ti, and also reveals several other upcoming graphics cards. These include, among others, Geforce RTX 3070 Ti, RTX 3060 Ti and the entry-level model RTX 3050.

The list also includes variants for laptops. The designation Max-Q means that these are full-size variants of the graphics cards where clock frequencies are better suited for portable form factor. The data reveals that the Geforce RTX 3060 and RTX 3070 in mobile design can be equipped with the basic model’s amount of graphics memory or doubled capacity. For the Geforce RTX 3070, this means 8 GB GDDR6 in the basic version and 16 GB in the Ti version. For RTX 3060 it will be 6 GB and 12 GB respectively.

The list does not mention any Ti model of Geforce RTX 3050, where the graphics circuit GA107 takes place. Probably such a model is on the horizon and the RTX 3050 model mentioned in the list may be about a scaled-down GA107 circuit with computing units (SM) turned off. The list does not reveal price information or specifications, but a look at Nvidia’s current price levels shows a gap between RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 that the competitor AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT fills.

The recommended price for AMD’s top card is $ 999, a little under $ 1,499 for the Geforce RTX 3090 and a little over $ 699 for the RTX 3080. A Geforce RTX 3080 Ti with 20 GB of graphics memory could be Nvidia’s counterpart to the Radeon RX 6900 XT with a similar price level around 999 USD. The company can choose a similar strategy with the RTX 3070 Ti, whose basic model with half the amount of graphics memory today costs 499 USD. Here, Nvidia can position itself between the Radeon RX 6800 XT and the RX 6800 at 579 and 649 USD respectively.

Previous reports indicate that the Geforce RTX 3080 Ti will be launched in January 2021, and may be accompanied by the simpler sibling RTX 3070 Ti the same month.
