Huawei Kirin 985: how is the new SoC of Honor 30

The launch of the new Honor 30 marked the debut of theunpublished SoC Kirin 985 that ranks halfway between the top model Kirin 990 and the Kirin 820. Confirmations on the technical characteristics come from the Chinese market, as well as the feedback from the AnTuTu benchmark. Like the other two models mentioned above, the 985 is also compatible with 5G networks: the telephone module is the same as that found in the Kirin 990 and therefore guarantees compatibility with new networks according to SA and NSA standards and with maximum speeds of 12777Mbps in download and 173Mbps upload.

The company points out that the 5G module ensures good download and upload speeds even on the move: for example, traveling at 90 km per hour the values are respectively 589Mbps and 63Mbps. The SoC is made with process production at 7 nanometers and includes one Octa-core CPU consisting of a 2.58GHz Cortex-A76 core, 2.4 GHz 3 Cortex-A76 cores and 1.84 GHz 4 Cortex-A55 cores. The GPU is the Mali-G77, there is a double NPU dedicated to the management of artificial intelligence algorithms and theISP 5.0 (the image processor).

Kirin 985 has already been subjected to the AnTuTu benchmark which highlights how the performance are slightly higher than those of the Kirin 820. Furthermore, the ability to position oneself is already evident in front of the Snapdragon 765G in almost every test.
