This time, Intel has revised its view on this situation. Now we get more performance (or equal, if we compare the power stones Comet Lake with past generation solutions) for less money (roughly speaking, twice as many computational threads for the same amount). Intel is clearly being modest about the real TDP Core i7-10700K. Even at nominal, this figure reaches 163 W (according to the AI Suite 3 monitoring program), the operating voltage of the monitored solution is 1.252 V.

Based on the number of cores / computing threads, then this is, of course, the Core i9-9900 (and versions K, KF) and the Ryzen 7 3800X. And if we are talking about cost, then this is the Ryzen 9 3900X.
With two equivalent technically stones The Core i7-10700K fights on an equal footing (somewhere faster than the model from Intel, somewhere from AMD), but the 12-core Ryzen 9 3900X turned out to be our guest too tough (at least in professional tests).
But in games, Intel processors turn out to be faster (the difference is most noticeable at 1080p resolution), but if you are used to playing in 4K format, the gap between the Core i7-10700K and its competitors will be minimal (1-2 fps).
In any case, it makes no sense to purchase such a productive CPU for games. For example, in Ghost Recon Wildlands, the Core i7-10700K load does not exceed 26-31%. Is it worth it to lay out a lot of money for it if it will be idle most of the time?
Intel Core i7-10700K Processor: Overclocking
Let’s move on to the most interesting. Is it possible to increase the nominal performance of the Core i7-10700K if you only have an air cooling system in your arsenal? The task is not easy. We remind you about 125 W TDP (which, in fact, as it turned out, is higher) and turbo a frequency of 5100 MHz, at which one core operates.
In Ghost Recon Wildlands, the Core i7-10700K load does not exceed 26-31%.
We managed to run all the cores at 5200 MHz, but this is an absolutely unstable indicator. Any test resulted in turning off the PC. It is difficult to even guess what TDP was discussed in such a situation.
The conclusion is simple: you can overclock the Core i7-10700K (and even achieve impressive results), but this will require a serious cooling system (water or nitrogen). Air coolers are not suitable for this purpose.
By the way, more cold (according to Intel) Core i9-9900KF behaves exactly the same. The 5 GHz mark (on all cores) is unstable on air.
Conclusion
The Core i7-10700K processor is an extremely productive device, but it was not created for gaming, but for professional needs (rendering, working with archives and high resolution). The reviewed CPU failed to overcome the Ryzen 9 3900X (we are talking about serious tasks), although today’s test guest turns out to be faster in games.
