Intel Core i9-12900HK outperforms Ryzen 9 5980HX by over 60%

After countless leaks about the Alder Lake variants for desktop, today it’s time to talk about its top-of-the-line model for laptops, which also promises to hit the market hard. We’re talking about the Core i9-12900HK, which outperforms the Ryzen 9 5980HX by more than 60% in its first Geekbench 5 leaked test.

Before talking about its result, let us remember that the Alder Lake variants for laptops will have a maximum of 6 high-performance cores and 8 high-efficiency cores, adding a total of 14 cores and 20 threads, which of course is the configuration used by this i9-12900HK. Apparently it has a base frequency of 2.9GHz, although its boost frequency is not read correctly, so we cannot know at what frequency it worked in the single-core test.

Now if going to the result, the i9-12900HK obtained 1851 points in the single-core test and 13256 points in the multi-core test, crushing the AMD Ryzen 9 5980HX, which obtained 1500 and 8200 points in single-core and multi. -core respectively, taking more than a 60% advantage in the multi-core test.

Comparing with Apple’s M1 Max, we can see that this new Intel processor is also above the best model of the apple company, and finally it is compared with the i9-11980HK to show the huge inter-generational leap of Alder. Lake, which reaches 44% in multi-core.

In this way, Alder Lake will dominate the laptop market for a few months, until AMD launches its Ryzen 7000 “Raphael-H” with up to 16 cores and 32 threads based on Zen 4 in late 2022, crushing Alder Lake-P. and possibly also its successor Raptor Lake-P.

Alder Lake processors for both desktop and laptop will be announced this Wednesday afternoon during the Intel Innovation event, so stay tuned to HD Technology for all their news.
